School Holidays: STEM Punks Science Program - Wallsend Library
STEM Punks’ four-day School Holiday Science program is a hands-on learning experience for upper primary students that combines sustainability, innovation and emerging technologies. Across four engaging days, students explore real-world challenges through virtual reality, coding, robotics, 3D modelling and creative problem-solving.
Ages: 10-12 years

What Students Will Do:
Based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), students will learn how innovation can help shape a more sustainable future. They will build confidence with technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), coding, and 3D modelling while strengthening teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
- Explore sustainability and the UN SDGs
- Design solutions for smart cities and environmental challenges
- Investigate ocean ecosystems and climate science
- Use tools such as TinkerCAD, Delightex and Canva
- Develop collaboration, communication and creative thinking skills
Program Overview
Each day introduces students to a new challenge and gives them opportunities to design, create, and present their ideas using emerging technologies.
Day One: Future Makers
Students are introduced to the UN SDGs, STEM identity, teamwork, and immersive technologies as they begin exploring creative solutions to real-world challenges.
Day Two: Future City Designers
Students design a sustainable smart city using design thinking, coding and 3D modelling to respond to environmental and community needs.
Day Three: Ocean Explorers
Students explore ocean conservation through immersive technologies and 3D design as they prototype solutions to help protect marine ecosystems.
Day Four: Innovation Showcase
Students refine their projects, create presentations, and share their ideas in a final showcase that celebrates innovation, teamwork and problem-solving.
