Home Library Service

The Home Library Service is a free service that delivers items from our collection to people who have difficulty visiting their local library.

To become a Home Library Service member you need to live in the City of Newcastle local government area and be unable to visit the library because of:

  • Poor health or immobility
  • Living with a disability
  • Frailty or age
  • Living in a care facility
  • Caring for someone
  • Being a new parent

You can choose your own items and we'll deliver them. Or you can tell us what you enjoy and we will choose and deliver items for you.

Members of our Home Library Service may borrow up to fifteen items per month from the library's collection including:

  • Books (including large print)
  • Audio books
  • DVDs
  • Magazines
  • Music CDs
  • Materials in community languages
  • eLibrary and other online resources

Call our Outreach Services team or ask a friend, relative or care organisation staff to contact us on your behalf. We will arrange for the delivery of your preferred library items to your home on a specified day each month, and collect the previous month's loans.
