School Holidays: Wandcraft Workshop - Newcastle City Library

Wednesday 8 July 2026
6 days from now
10 – 11am
1 hour
Iggety, Ziggety, Zaggety Zoom are the magical words used in one of our favourite picture books Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. We will start with a stick and use collage materials that include wool, felt, feathers, ribbons and beads to create a wand.

This workshop encourages creativity and problem solving, with freedom to explore a variety of techniques and is easily adapted to suit children’s strengths. Some adult guidance may be required to wrap and tie wool. Each wand will be a unique creation; made for fun, display or imaginative play adventures.

Take the story from the page to the stage. Room on the Broom is showing live at Civic Theatre Newcastle on Wednesday 22 July. Find out more on the Civic Theatre website.

Ages: 5-12 years

Cost: $5

Bookings essential – Please book tickets only for the children attending. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or carer. Parents and carers are encouraged to actively participate and will be required to supervise during this workshop.
