10:30am - 12pm
1 hour 30 minutes
We are thrilled to invite you to a wonderful morning tea event in the Lovett Gallery, to hear from award-winning author and playwright, Mary-Anne O'Connor. The Stowaway is an epic tale of romantic adventure, love and courage and is inspired by true events.

Mary-Anne will share how discovering the truth of her family’s legendary tale; that her great grandfather was found sitting atop a trunk with his son in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean after they were discovered (and jettisoned) as stowaways, was blended into research about a famous Danish explorer to create this epic, windswept adventure.

Discover the inspiration, the research and the passion behind her latest novel, enjoy the chance to ask questions, purchase a book and get it signed.

A morning tea will be on offer from 10:30am, with the talk beginning at 11am.

About the Author:

Mary-Anne's debut novel Gallipoli Street was published in 2015 to great acclaim, and she's been steadily writing epic romantic adventurous tales ever since. She has drawn on her love of the Australian bush, her fascination with her own family history and her deep, abiding respect for the men and women who carried our nation through turbulent, formative times to produce her novels.

She lives in the Bushland Shire of Hornsby-Kuringai with her husband, two sons and their very spoilt dog, Saxon.
