Through his lens, Ralph Snowball captured thousands of images of Newcastle and surrounding areas, providing future generations with an unmatched visual record of the region in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Over five years, Newcastle Libraries, with a team of dedicated volunteers, have preserved and enhanced over 5,500 plate glass negatives. Join us for a panel discussion to celebrate the digitisation of the Ralph Snowball collection of images.

Hear about the life of Ralph Snowball, the digitisation project and some of the stories behind these incredible images, many of which have never been seen before.
This is a unique opportunity to peer into the past and thank the team whose work has preserved this digital archive for generations to come.

Light refreshments will be served.
