Adamstown Library temporary closure
01 Nov 2024
Adamstown Library was recently closed to facilitate the replacement of carpet.
During the process it was discovered the old carpet tiles were stuck to the vinyl underlay that upon testing, was found to contain asbestos.
Following best practice safety guidelines, the hazard will be removed, and new carpet will be installed.
Adamstown Library will remain closed until all work is completed, with City of Newcastle working to reopen the facility as soon as possible.
If you have any reserved items that were due to be collected from Adamstown Library our team will be in contact with you soon to make alternate arrangements.
All other locations will remain open with regular opening hours.
